Empowering communities and transforming Nepal’s waste systems through advocacy, education and capacity building.
To promote sustainability by adopting a circular economy approach to waste management in Nepal.
Back in 2017, we started Doko Recyclers with the aim to replace harmful waste disposal practices with resource recovery systems and fuel a circular economy that creates value for businesses, communities and the environment.
Nearly a decade later, we have grown to three Material Recovery Facilities; an e-waste management facility for safe disposal, repair, and refurbishment of electronic and electrical waste; a plastic recovery facility; and decentralized collection centres that help channel waste efficiently to the material recovery facilities. Today, Doko Recyclers is one of Nepal’s leading waste management companies, and serves an expanding national network of institutions and households.
As we continue to build essential waste management infrastructure and services, we know that lasting change requires strong systems beyond operations alone. Nepal’s waste challenges require viewing waste as a shared civic duty and community ownership, where individuals and neighborhoods take responsibility to manage their waste. To meet this need, we established the Doko Foundation, our non-profit arm, to go beyond daily operations and focus on policies, projects, research, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that transform waste management and benefit everyone.
